Bisphenol A

In the presence of a number of researchers from the Advanced Laboratory for Chemical Analysis, engineer Intisar Al-Sayeh gave a very important lecture in view of the sensitive topic she addressed, which is: Bisphenol A. Bisphenol A (or bisphenol A, abbreviated as BPA) is an organic compound of the bisphenols, and is the most famous of them. It has a general chemical formula of C15H16O2, and is in the form of a white solid. It is also one of the industrial chemicals that cause endocrine disruption. This industrial chemical has been used in the manufacture of some plastic materials and resins since the 1960s [2]. Bisphenol A is found in polycarbonate plastics and resins. Polycarbonate plastic is often used in containers that store food and beverages, such as water bottles. It can also be used in other consumer goods. Some plastic containers marked with recycled symbols (number 3, 6 or 7) are made from bisphenol A, and their use should be avoided. Epoxy resins are used The use of BPA has already been restricted in the European Union, Canada, China and Malaysia, especially in products for babies and young children. Bisphenol A is licensed by regulation (European Union) for food-related plastics and the permissible limit is 0.6 mg per kilogram, regulation and licensing number 10/2011. The use of Bisphenol A in the manufacture of polycarbonate infant feeding bottles is not permitted as currently regulated by the European Union under license and regulation number 321/2011; Also, Bisphenol A is not licensed for paint at the European Union level, nor is any material that comes into contact with food other than plastic. In 2014, the FDA issued its most recent report, which reiterated the original 1980s BPA exposure limit of 50 mcg/kg (about 23 mcg/lb) per day, concluding that BPA is Probably safe at these levels currently. However, research in rodents shows negative effects of BPA at much lower levels, as little as 10 mcg/kg per day. Research in monkeys also shows that these levels, compared to those currently measured in humans, have negative effects on reproduction. Some states have followed suit, but no federal regulations have been established. Walmart immediately halted sales in all its Canadian stores of food containers, plastic water bottles, infant formula bottles, baby cups and pacifiers containing BPA, and promised to do the same in the United States by 2009. Problems it may cause: a disorder in the fetus’s nervous system, infertility in men, and also some kidney problems Thanks to the generous attendees for participating, and a big thank you to Engineer Intisar for choosing this topic of great importance
